Intern Bio: Dylan

Hey everybody! My name is Dylan Owsley, and I am a 22 year-old transfer student at Chico State, and am also an intern at Idea Fab Labs! This is currently my second semester at Chico state and I am studying mechatronic engineering.

I have only been in Chico for about 7 months so far, and aside from the summer weather it seems like a pretty nice place. If I’m not on campus or doing homework in my apartment, chances are I am playing video games. I also enjoy doing small hobby projects from time to time, mostly small soldering/electronic projects. I was also into tennis a fair amount during my high school days and played on the varsity team for 3 years, so if you’d like to go to the courts and hit a few balls around I would be more than happy to join you, I could definitely use the practice!

I would one day like to design and build robots that are used around the house, whether they be toys for children (or not so children, such as myself) or robots used to make our lives easier. I wouldn’t say we have it hard necessarily, but who wants to learn how to mix drinks when you simply input a drink name and have it done for you in seconds, with the correct ratio of ingredients. I haven’t really had an opportunity to use the machines found in Idea Fab Labs such as the laser cutter, 3d printer, or even some of the electronic equipment such as the oscilloscope before, so I’m really excited to test the limits of each machine (within safety measures of course).

From what I’ve seen so far I’m going to have an awesome time with this internship and hanging out with the people who frequent Idea Fab Labs.
